A Local Approach to Pediatric Orthodontic Care

Located in the heart of Tallahassee, Vibrant Orthodontics isn’t just another dental practice — it’s a family-focused team dedicated to transforming children’s smiles and boosting their confidence. Led by Dr. Maryam Rezaie (affectionately known as “Dr. R”), our practice takes a unique, personalized approach to children’s orthodontic care.

Why Early Orthodontic Intervention Matters

The American Association of Orthodontists recommends children have their first orthodontic screening by age seven — and for good reason. This critical age allows orthodontists to:

  • Identify potential alignment issues before they become complex problems
  • Guide tooth development proactively
  • Prevent more invasive treatments later in childhood or adolescence

At seven, most children still have a mix of baby teeth and permanent teeth, and the jaws are still growing. That makes it a good time to spot a narrow upper jaw, a crossbite, or teeth that are already crowding for space. Many kids need nothing more than regular check-ins at this age. For those who do need help early, two-phase treatment pairs a short first phase, often with an expander or partial braces, with full braces once the permanent teeth are in.

Cutting-Edge Technology, Compassionate Care

At Vibrant Orthodontics, we combine state-of-the-art technology with a warm, welcoming environment. Our revolutionary iTero scanner eliminates messy traditional dental molds, making the initial consultation comfortable and even fun for kids. Laser-sintered appliances provide unprecedented precision in treatment, ensuring each child receives a customized orthodontic solution.

The Vibrant Kids’ Club in Tallahassee: Your Child’s Smile Journey Begins Here

Our complimentary Vibrant Kids’ Club offers:

  • Free growth screenings
  • Regular smile monitoring
  • Expert guidance from our experienced team

The Kids’ Club is designed for children around age seven who are not ready for braces yet. Instead of guessing when to come back, you get scheduled check-ups that follow your child’s growth, and we tell you plainly when the timing is right to start treatment. Joining costs nothing and does not commit your family to anything.

Metal or Clear Braces for Your Child

Traditional metal braces are the most common choice for kids. Made from high-grade stainless steel, they stand up to recess, sports and the occasional forgotten food rule, and they correct crowding, spacing and bite problems reliably. Some older children, especially those heading into middle school, ask for clear ceramic braces, which use tooth-colored brackets that are much harder to notice. Both options move teeth the same way, and Dr. R will recommend the one that suits your child’s bite and habits.

Benefits Beyond a Beautiful Smile

Braces for kids in Tallahassee at Vibrant Orthodontics aren’t just about aesthetics. They provide critical benefits:

  • Correcting bite alignment
  • Preventing future dental complications
  • Improving oral hygiene
  • Boosting self-confidence

Helping Your Child Through the First Few Weeks

It is normal for teeth to feel sore for a few days after braces go on. Soft meals, an over-the-counter pain reliever and a warm salt water rinse usually take care of it. We give every family a list of foods to skip, which comes down to sticky treats like caramel and gum, hard foods like popcorn, nuts and hard candy, and chewy foods like bagels. Apples and raw carrots are fine when they are cut into small pieces.

Kids also need a little coaching on brushing around their brackets, and we show both the child and the parent how to do it at the start of treatment. If something breaks between visits, there is no need to panic. Most problems can wait for an appointment, and simple home fixes for loose brackets and poking wires keep your child comfortable in the meantime.

A Team That Feels Like Family

What sets Vibrant Orthodontics apart is our commitment to making every patient feel special. Our fun, patient-focused team ensures that orthodontic treatment becomes a positive, memorable experience.

That starts with Dr. Rezaie herself. She earned her dental degree at the University of Florida and her orthodontics degree at Jacksonville University School of Orthodontics, where she served as Chief Resident, and she opened Vibrant Orthodontics in 2021. Parents choose Vibrant for a clear plan, comfort-first visits, simple monthly payments, and connected care from a team that truly knows their child.

Community-Driven Care

We’re more than just an orthodontic practice. We’re proud partners in Tallahassee‘s educational community, committed to making quality orthodontic care accessible to every child.

Braces for Kids FAQs

What age should my child start braces?

There is no single right age. We recommend a first screening around seven, but most children who need full braces start once more of their permanent teeth have come in. Your child’s growth decides the timing, and we will explain it at each check-up.

Will my child have to give up sports?

No. Kids can keep playing sports and instruments with braces. We recommend a mouthguard for contact sports to protect the teeth and brackets.

What happens at the first visit?

After a short tour, Dr. R examines your child’s teeth, jaws and bite, explains what she sees and what braces would do, and walks you through the plan and timeline in plain language. You leave with clear answers and no pressure to decide that day.

How do families pay for treatment?

We offer 0% interest in-house financing with no credit check, a 10% discount for paying in full, and help with insurance claims. Our team walks through every option during the free consultation.
